There were a number of reasons that led to Dennis and Jeanie deciding to switch to geothermal to meet their heating and cooling needs. They were fed up with their inefficient electric heating and they were concernerd about particulate matter from their wood stove polluting their indoor air. They were also looking for a way to heat their home without having to chop wood and tend the fire. They also had no cooling system in their home and with summers getting warmer and warmer here in Central New York they also wanted a system that could meet their cooling needs. They found everything that they were looking for in geothermal technology. With the combination of state, federal, and HeatSmart CNY incentives they were able to install a geothermal system at an affordable price.
